taiwan, week 4: birthday

sunday was little buddy's birthday, and we skipped out on church (which admittedly had been a painful endeavor over there) and went hiking at hu tou shan (tiger head mountain) with some new friends:
  

it was so so hot!  everyone was guzzling water and we stopped at the first shelter

our friends a and c invited us for pizza and cake in the evening, since c's birthday was just one week later:

each of the kids wrote buddy a card - so sweet

and then we were off to pick up daddy!  unfortunately, we had a little car accident on the way, but everyone was okay, thankfully, and it just made for a delay (and our first trip to a Taiwanese police station =p)
