and in the afternoon buddy had her first day of pre-school! she was very excited =) she woke up pretty early and kept asking me what else she needed to do to get ready for school (which doesn't start till 12:30!).

she was bubbling over when we picked her up too, with an art project that she said was 'for c' and full of hugs for s:
in honor of her first day, we paid a visit to the byron mcdonald's, which she had been asking about since we moved in. oh, and mommy had a coupon ;-)

it's been two weeks, and i wish i could say every day has gone so well. last thurs, she started saying she didn't want to go, didn't want to go, and got more and more worked up no matter what i said. when we got there, she wouldn't get out of the car, and was crying and clinging when i handed her over to her teacher. poor little buddy!! i'm pretty sure it was mostly because she was tired from adjusting to the early kindergarten schedule, but it made me teary too. yesterday she also said she didn't want to go, but thankfully went in without a fuss. at bedtime today, she said she wasn't going to go tomorrow. she only has school two afternoons for 2 1/2 hours each, but this child would be perfectly content to spend all day every day with me. it does make me wonder whether this supposed necessity is really necessary. will she have trouble adjusting to kindergarten if she's never been to school? or will she be ready for kindergarten because she will have spent five full years secure and loved at home? is it experience that makes kids able to venture out on their own, or is it simply being another year older? i wish i knew the answers!
