having been without a microwave since the end of april, i've gotten rather used to it. it's given me some appreciation for the non-negligeable task that feeding one's family has been through most of history and continues to be for most of world. i use it mostly for defrosting meats and reheating leftovers, but the ability to cook for several days at a time is an underappreciated timesaver. amd what do you do with leftover rice without a microwave?? our microwave was finally fixed, after 3 service calls and 7 holes in our ceiling, and we tried it out this morning on that wonderful crispy goodness: pre-cooked, thick-sliced bacon. mmmm! the girls' reactions:
lucy: p[r]ay for bacon! dank you God, for our bacon!
chloe: did mr. mike [the electrician] fix our microwave? he has the same name you know - we should call him Mr. Microwave!
(1) - make fried rice or congee =)
