arriving in the evening at our new place, we discovered something we hadn't noticed while house hunting - the house has a lot of rooms with no overhead lighting! we also found out what daddy had been busy doing with his day's head start on us:

and of course, the pool..! at the beginning of the summer, the girls couldn't swim a bit, particularly c, and keeping tabs on little dude caused me no small amount of anxiety. by the end, they were jumping off the diving board and swimming around comfortably with no floaties, if not with great technique ;-) even s, who walked straight in over his head the first few times, got to be more trustworthy (especially with the addition of a life jacket).
