the second day

not much sleeping took place that first night, between little guy wanting to eat again as soon as i put him down and the 86 hospital staff who conspired to form a steady stream in and out all night.  you definitely don't stay in the hospital to sleep =p  but by the time the girls came to visit at lunch, baby had settled into his daytime hibernation and i could get out of the hospital gown and feel like a human being again ;-)

 

just in time for another visit from m, who brought a whole pot of yummy chicken soup (far superior to the hospital fare =p) and took some family pics for us:

nai nai made it in late friday night - just another way the timing was perfect.  she got to spend an extra weekend with us along with the planned week of vacation.



so many people prayed with us that the baby would come at just the right time, and he certainly did.  most importantly, ben was home.  i had a calendar for the whole month of march with two sets of primary and secondary people to take me to the hospital and to keep the girls =p  but on a smaller scale, a lot of other things came together too.  of course, we would have been fine without any of these, but they did make life easier:
- i had just taken the girls to their last activity (gymnastics) that night.  preschool, gymnastics and chinese school all had a week or two off for spring/easter break
- c got to have her party and her birthday all to herself
- my friend h was back from vacation so the girls could look forward to staying at their favorite house
- i'd gotten the car washed and vacuumed before adding a baby to the mix
- i'd given the girls and bath that night and taken a shower myself, which i normally would have put off till morning

i just realized i i haven't introduced him by name yet.  it took us 36 hours settle on it - Silas Jia-Rong Nicholson.  his biblical namesake is described in Acts 15 as one of the 'men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ', who '[being himself] a prophet, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with many words.' Jia-Rong means 'increasing or adding to glory.' a tall order, but may the Lord himself make it so!
