the girls enjoyed a week's worth of easter activities this year. a friend of mine is on a mission to make easter as special as christmas, and the more i think about it, the more i like it. after all, christmas would be nothing extraordinary without easter!
we started with an early egg hunt put on by our community. i've always wondered how eggs got associated with easter. i read something about eggs symbolizing hidden newness of life, so i'll go with that. in any case, we were joined by a college friend and her two-year-old, so it was an extra special treat =) there were practically as many kids as eggs, so i had to do some consoling over the handful of eggs retrieved, but it was still fun.
the girls and i dyed eggs for the first time, using this koolaid method. worked great!
they loved adding the water and watching the colors
and of course, littles was convinced that colorful eggs must taste better =)
on friday morning, we made resurrection rolls. it's a fun recipe -
the marshmallow is white and pure like jesus, covered in spices
wrapped in cloths (the dough)
pop in the oven, break them open, and the tomb is empty!
c surprised me by jumping right on. she must have ridden half a dozen times
littles needed a little security
it was so fun seeing c run, and i mean RUN, for the eggs. after filling up her basket, she was happy to help her sister ;-) and we got to enjoy a weekend with nai nai on top of it all!
He is risen!
