ben traveled for interviews through all of october and most of november. i'm pretty sure he was gone at least as many nights as he was home in october! one big perk, though, was our tag-along trip to houston to visit our bestest buddies and their brand-new baby Z =)

it was so incredibly restful to just be there with them, soaking in the fresh air from the back porch, letting the kids run and play and climb in the yard.

the next night we got to visit with one of my cousins and an uncle who live in houston. i don't think i'd seen my cousin since i was about his daughter's age in this photo. my mom's family just goes on and on!

it is just wrong that these three should be separated by so many miles!
alas, all good things must come to an end, and we did have to pack up and go home. a few things to round out the month:

we were thankful that daddy was home for trick or treating, so the girls got a second round of costumed candy fun. that's all folks!
