june overview

we're going to fly through the second half of 2012 in pictures, so hold on to your hat!

picnic at rockville town square where the library is.  c looks so grown-up in this pic!

fishing with daddy at lake needwood

and a rowboat trip afterwards

what's summer without chalk?

picking snowpeas at butler's orchard - yumm!

c was into the picking.. lu was into the obstacle course
=p

waiting patiently at a neighborhood street fair after an afternoon at the pool

playground stop on the way home
we rode our bikes around the washingtonian center lake and stopped on the far side for lunch

first of two (or was it three) blueberry trips to butler's

mmm!

discovered all kinds of fun and free stuff to play on afterwards

c surprised me by running up the hill and charging down these slides all by herself the very first time

and coaxing her sister up

who was a little less brave about it ;-)  i didn't blame her - i thought it was a bit intimidating myself!
first flower from on our forget-me-not seeds!

father's day =)

the girls made daddy a book... see some of the pages at

and a shirt of our family

i got them a joint present =)

good coaching! ;-)
c took a week of swimming lessons

but didn't get comfortable putting her head under.  her sister, on the other hand, who didn't take lessons because she wouldn't get in without me, surprised us later in the summer by teaching herself the backstroke after watching the olympic swimmers

we moved to a first floor apt in the same neighborhood, and were humbled by the
turnout of volunteers from church.  this picture includes one person we didn't even know before and our senior pastor

some of the ladies kept the girls at the park all afternoon - the girls still talk about it

and our dear friends invited us over for dinner afterwards to escape our controlled chaos for an hour.  we felt very loved!
